-SOLD- A Gustavian Period Lindome Armchair Stamped OES, Circa 1790

This armchair was made in Lindome, Sweden, circa 1790. An important feature is the large and impressive carving of the Lindome signature Hops plant’s flower and leaves on the crest of the chair and repeated on the front apron. The arms are beautifully stylized. The upholstery is a grey linen, with upholstered arm rests, seat, and back. The front reeded legs are topped with flower carvings at each corner, and the back legs elegantly curve out. The bottom is stamped by the maker, Olof Eriksson (b.1754-d.1808), a well-known chair maker who supplied chairs and armchairs for Gunnebo Palace in Lindome. Measuring 21” wide and 17” deep the chair is comfortable and generous in size.
