A Gustavian Period Sleeping Bench in Original Paint, Circa 1750

An excellent example of Gustavian workmanship, this bench has exceptional details that set it apart. An impressive center medallion is framed by two curved side panels that descend to meet four beautifully carved finials. The finials are adorned with flowers encircled with an unusual pattern of pierced dots. The same motif is repeated on the legs. Not only is this piece comfortable, but the front portion pulls out to make a bed for a child or storage. It can be purchased with four optional pillows in a French linen check that works perfectly with the linen fabric on the seat. There is an old repair with staples on one side of the bench.
