-SOLD- A Swedish Rococo Period Stockholm Trågsoffa Attributed to Christopher Tietze, circa 1760

Although not signed by Christopher Tietze, this magnificent trågsoffa has all the earmarks of this Stockholm carpenter’s work. From the intricate carving and details of shells across the apron, to the diamond pattern on each side, and elegant elements at the top this sofa; it truly is a special piece. Tietze, was born in Sweden in 1727 and came to Stockholm in 1753. He became a member of the prestigious Stockholm Guild in 1764. The sofa is painted a wonderful shade of Swedish blue and upholstered in a heavy weight muslin fabric.
