This “Svepask” or “Tine” box was made circa 1870 in sweden by taking a single thin piece of wood, heated and boiled, and then stretched over a mold and sewn together with wood fibers. Known also as a sweep-around-box, this Svepask features its original blue paint with Sun yellow interior. The cover is held shut by the internal tension developed during its creation, a rather ingenious design. The box is adorned with iron straps for integrity, that also add to its charming aesthetic.
