Sold Four French Maison Baguès Two-Light Sconces, Circa 1940

These decorative sconces are iconic examples of the designs of Maison Baguès, known for its luxury lighting and founded in 1860. The sconces feature crystal urns with leaves and flowers emanating from the center. Found in a Villa in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, their design is fanciful and imaginative, and brings an airy natural element that contrasts with the heavier lighting of the past. Delicate and detailed Maison Baguès’ designs attracted the social elite and were found in the houses of couturières and designers. They have been rewired for US circuits and may be sold in pairs or as a set of four.
