An excellent example of Gustavian workmanship, this bench has exceptional details that set it apart. The square raised section on the backrest is elegantly simple and gives the piece a refined organic quality. A guilloche frieze adorns the entire back of the top frame as it leads to the sides which are adorned with flower finials. The arms are carved with a subtle taper which is repeated in reverse on the feet with adding personality. Not only is this piece comfortable, with the entire backrest and seat upholstered, but the front portion pulls out to make a bed for a child or storage.
