A Swedish, Late Gustavian Period, Grain Painted Drop-leaf Table Circa 1820

This spectacular table retains the original grain painting in a lovely pattern of feathery shapes emanating from the center. The condition of the paint is excellent with a few minor touch ups, but retains the original surface, showing the creativity and imagination of a master painter. The fine tapered legs with delicate reeding at each side add to the allure of this piece. The generous size makes it possible to seat six people. The table was made in Hede, in the historic province of Hälsingland, Sweden, in 1820.
