This desk with its original blue paint, is a utilitarian beauty. A slanted top opens to reveal shelves and ample storage. The fluted legs are late Gustavian in style, and are accented at the top by delicate spiral carvings. The desk may have had use in a schoolroom or office by a person of importance, as it is finely marked and dated: “1813 SFN”. A slight restoration has been made to the right leg. The iron hardware, escutcheon, and key are original.
