This travel box is in a wonderfully deep shade of blue green, which over the years has developed an attractive patina showing the age of the paint. It is decorated with metal straps to make it strong for carrying heavy items when traveling by coach in the late 18th century. The large size and ornamentation of the metal reinforcements are unusual and impressive.
