This cabinet has a shape typical to pieces from the rural Jämtland region of Sweden which is midcountry and bordering Norway. This piece, however, is no simple country cabinet. Blue pigment was the most expensive of all colors, and this piece boasts its original paint with minor touch ups. Small extravagant details like the complexity and depth of the cornice reveal this was an important piece of furniture. The inside, with its original paint, is dated 1803. A sturdy and useful cabinet.
